UNLV’s new medical school is already facing possible financial setbacks as it heads into its first year.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reportson rising tensions between the Board of Regents and the school’s Dean Barbara Atkinson.
Regents have criticized Atkinson’s strategy to find and secure a single $100 million megadonor.

If that megadonor is not found soon, Atkinson said construction of a medical education building and plans to double the school’s class size could be delayed.
While the school is still on track to open July 17, the lack of a megadonor by early June could stall the school’s growth.
