Elko County Weighing Recreational Marijuana Options

With recreational marijuana soon to come to Nevada, Elko County is still wondering just what to do about it.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports neighboring Douglas County decided not to allow any recreational marijuana dispensaries in county zoning districts, but hasn't prohibited the drug's use or for qualified persons to grow their own.

Elko County is still weighing whether to carry out a similar measure, which could prohibit dispensaries in unincorporated parts of the county.

Cities in the county, like Carlin, Wells and the city of Elko, are able to set their own rules on the matter.

County officials say they're waiting to find out what the state does with its regulations before going any further.
