Busy Week For Nevada's Legislators

As the Nevada legislative session reaches its halfway point this week, lawmakers are up against a major deadline to pass bills out of a first committee.

If this doesn’t happen by Friday, the bills are considered dead. Today’s agenda includes a bill that would limit the spread of craft breweries – that is, a single site where beer is brewed and sold which usually has a restaurant.

Craft brewers have seen the measure as an attempt by big beer companies to stifle the competition. Democratic Assemblywoman Irene Bustamante Adams sponsored the bill.

Other bills to be considered this week include one to save the foreclosure mediation program, and to make it easier for previous drug offenders to receive food stamps and welfare benefits.
