Elko Tops Annual Precipitation In Half The Time

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Parts of northeast Nevada have now received a whole year's worth of precipitation just half way through the annual water season.

The National Weather Service said Thursday that Elko has received 10.22 inches of rain since the water year began on Oct. 1.

The annual average is 9.91 inches between October and Sept. 30.

A winter weather advisory was set to expire at 11 a.m. Thursday after the latest storm dropped between 6 and 12 inches of snow on the upper elevations of the Ruby Mountains and eastern Humboldt mountains in parts of Elko, Lander, Eureka, Nye and White Pine counties.

The forecast calls for more rain and snow on Friday and Saturday, as well as next Monday and Tuesday.
