Search Called Off After Former Utah Lawmaker Found Safe

A former Utah state lawmaker is home after his was stranded on an isolated road for two days when his car became stuck.

The St. George Spectrum reports 52-year-old Chad Bennion made it home Monday.

Bennion had gone for a trail run New Year’s Eve near St. George. When he returned to his car, it was stuck on a secluded road.

Bennion didn’t have cell phone service, but decided to wait in his car for rescue after hearing on the radio that officials were searching for him. He had food and other emergency supplies in the vehicle.

A hunter found Bennion and helped free his car. Bennion called his family to report his was safe, when he had cell service again.
