Republican Utah Lawmaker Wants Equal Pay Law

A conservative lawmaker in Utah plans to introduce a proposal calling for women to be paid the same as men if their work is similar, saying that the free market alone will not fix the problem.

Bill sponsor Republican Sen. Jacob Anderegg says the unfinished proposal will likely involve offering women a way to file a complaint if their pay is below the wages of their male counterparts.

Anderegg says he was spurred to action in part by because he didn't want his daughter thinking she wasn't worth as much as his son.
