Hutchison Announces He Won't Run For Governor In 2018

Nevada Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison announced he will not run for governor in 2018.

In a post on his Facebook page, Hutchison said he spent the holidays mulling over the decision, and that many close to him encouraged him to run.

But ultimately, he decided not to throw his hat into the ring.

So far, no major Democrats or Republicans have announced they're running for governor.

Republican Dean Heller, now Nevada's senior senator, said in December he would run for re-election instead.

Potential candidates to succeed the term-limited Brian Sandoval include Republican state Attorney General Adam Laxalt and Democratic Clark County Commission chair Steve Sisolak, among others.
