Nye County Population Projected To Hit 88K By 2060

The population of Nye County is expected to hit 88,000 people by the year 2060.

That's according to projections from the county as it updates its water resources plan.

The Pahrump Valley Times reports the estimate comes from modeling the current percentage of growth rate – 1.5 percent – out to 2060.

The county's plan looked at how water in the area would be utilized over the next several decades.

County officials think most Nye County residents will be tied to the public water supply by that time, with very few using private wells.

They also anticipate most people will be living in and around Pahrump.
