Pahrump Middle Schooler Arrested For Bringing Unloaded Gun To School

Authorities say a rural Nevada middle school student is in juvenile custody after a teacher confiscated an unloaded handgun from the boy's backpack.

Nye County sheriff's Sgt. David Boruchowitz said Wednesday the boy was taken into custody about 9 a.m. Tuesday at Rosemary Clarke Middle School in Pahrump.

Boruchowitz says he's expected to face a juvenile charge of possession of a firearm at a school.

The boy was described as a teenager, but his age, school class level and name weren't made public.

The sheriff's sergeant says the boy didn't have ammunition for the weapon, and no one reported that he displayed the firearm in a threatening way to anyone at the school.
