Governor Puts Freeway Projects On Hold Until NFL Approval Of Raiders Move

Governor Brian Sandoval says he wants to hold off on accelerating the $899 million in road work to support building a new football stadium in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The State Legislature approved public funding for the 65,000-seat stadium and the governor signed it into law last month.

Despite the approval of public money and the promise of private money from casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, NFL owners must vote to approve the Oakland Raiders move to Las Vegas.

Owners could vote as early as January on whether the Raiders can move.

Also in January, the Nevada Department of Transportation’s board of directors will start looking into Clark County projects that can be pushed back in favor of improvements near two possible stadium sites.
