Washoe County Won't Allow Pot Dispensary To Move To Sparks

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County commissioners have turned down an application from a medical marijuana dispensary that sought to move from Incline Village to Sparks.

KRNV-TV reports that Green Thumbs Industries had met all the county's zoning requirements when it applied for the move but commissioners voted to deny the request Tuesday.

The county's decision came one week after residents at a community meeting voiced their concerns about the possible Sparks location. They cited proximity to schools, public safety and traffic.

The dispensary's desired location had been within a mile of a middle school and a high school.

Assistant County Manager Kevin Schiller says Green Thumbs is not allowed to move within the Reno-Sparks area but can apply for relocation in unincorporated Washoe County.
