RENO, Nev. (AP) — The animated film "Sausage Party" has been scratched from the list of free campus offerings at the University of Nevada, Reno because of a rape scene in the movie about supermarket products trying to discover what happens when they leave the grocery store.
Seth Rogan's R-rated comedy had been scheduled to run Thursday and Friday at the student union.
David Crockett, who serves on an 11-member student film committee, told the Reno Gazette-Journal they decided it wasn't the right fit for campus after fielding a number of objections from students and faculty.
The scene features one character raping another depicted in the film as a juice box. The character tells the juice box, "If you say anything, no one will believe you."
Crockett says that isn't a message students or universities want to promote.
