Cashman Center Still Being Floated As Football Stadium Site

As Nevada legislators begin to pack their bags ahead of next week's special stadium session, the City of Las Vegas is still pushing for Cashman Center to be the home of a football stadium.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the city has drawn up renderings of what an NFL stadium, a soccer stadium and other development at Cashman would look like in hopes of it becoming a contender.

City officials argue Cashman Center is better served by roadways near the location than the other two sites in play, the Bali Hai golf course and a tract at Russell Road and Interstate 15.

They also say the overall price tag for putting the stadium at Cashman would be smaller than elsewhere because little has to be done to the site to make it ready for such a development.

However, developers and backers of the stadium project have long dismissed Cashman Center as a site for the stadium because it is in downtown Las Vegas, not near the Las Vegas Strip.
