ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The search for a new district attorney in Elko County is underway.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that county commissioners have started the process of choosing a replacement for Mark Torvinen, who died from natural causes last month after crashing his vehicle into an urgent care clinic in Elko.
Kristin McQueary, who was the chief civil district attorney, has been serving as the interim district attorney since Aug. 17.

County officials say they will soon begin accepting applications for the position and that applicants will have 30 days to apply. The county is expected to hold interviews in October.
