1 Hurt, 19 Displaced In Apartment Fire South Of Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fire official says one person was taken to a hospital and eight apartments were badly damaged in a fire that displaced 19 people overnight at a residential complex south of the Las Vegas Strip.

Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Roy Session said Wednesday the fire was reported about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Spa Apartments off South Las Vegas Boulevard and Serene Avenue.

The injured person was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, in Henderson. A condition update wasn't immediately available.

Session says additional firefighters were called, and it took crews more than an hour to quell flames in the 16-unit building.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire, or the total damage estimate.

Session says a dog and a cat also escaped unharmed.
