Red Rock Canyon Hiker Dies After 15-Story Fall

A hiker at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area has died after falling about 15 stories.

Las Vegas police Lt. Timothy Hatchett says the hiker had been with a group before the hiker fell about 160 feet from a trail on Thursday.

Search and rescue crews responded to the fall but were unable to resuscitate the hiker. The person was declared dead at the scene.

Officials say it is unclear which trail the hiker had been on before the fall. It is also unclear what caused the fall.

The coroner's office will identify the hiker once the family has been notified.
