Recreational Marijuana Supporters Gear Up For TV Ad Blitz

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Recreational marijuana supporters are gearing up for a big TV ad blitz before Nevada voters weigh in on legalizing pot use.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that a PAC called the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol has reserved more than $800,000 in TV airtime at Las Vegas stations.

Ads are set to launch in early October and run through Election Day, although coalition spokesman Joe Brezny says the content hasn't yet been finalized.

The coalition has raised $285,000 this year as of mid-June. Most of the funding is coming from Nevada marijuana companies.

Some groups opposed to the ballot measure haven't reported raising any funds this year. A political nonprofit called Nevadans for Responsible Drug Policy opposes the initiative but isn't required to disclose its donors.
