PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Arizona man charged in a pair of standoffs involving members of the Bundy family has pleaded guilty to the one in Oregon and is expected to do the same in Nevada.
In federal court in Portland, Joseph O'Shaughnessy admitted to conspiring with others to prevent Interior Department employees from working at a national wildlife refuge near Burns, Oregon.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Gabriel said prosecutors will recommend O'Shaughnessy be sentenced to a year in prison, but it will be served at the same time he's serving his punishment in the Nevada case.
Prosecutors in Nevada have described him as a mid-level organizer of a 2014 confrontation with federal agents at Cliven Bundy's ranch.
O'Shaughnessy told the court Monday he provided security during the Oregon standoff that was led by Ammon Bundy.
