LV Drivers Rescued After Monsoon Brings Floods

More than a dozen drivers were rescued from flooded streets during a summer storm that soaked northeast Las Vegas Monday night.

Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell said Tuesday that people were plucked from at least 12 vehicles that were trapped by flooding.

The rescues were reported between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday across northeast Las Vegas, though there were no injuries.

The National Weather Service said monsoon moisture is to blame for the quick-moving storm that drenched the area near Nellis Air Force Base with about 1.5 inch of rain.
