A swimmer from Las Vegas is bringing home bronze from Rio.
The Las Vegas Sun reports Cody Miller placed third in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke finals.
The 24-year-old Palo Verde High School graduate set an American record and earned his first Olympic medal yesterday, swimming the distance in under 59 seconds.

Miller’s enthusiasm about being on the podium prompted commentary on social media. On Twitter, ESPN’s Darren Rovell called Miller’s excited reaction despite not winning gold “refreshing.”
Miller was the first member of the Sandpipers of Nevada club team to qualify for the Olympics.
