Juvenile Escapes Elko Facility, Is Recaptured

Authorities say a 16-year-old escaped a juvenile detention center in northern Nevada but was back in custody two hours later.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports that Nevada Youth Training Center Superintendent Greg Thornton says the teen who escaped Saturday morning was from Washoe County and was being held on a parole violation. He left the center at 9:20 a.m. but staff took him back at 11:20 a.m.

The teen's escape was the seventh at NYTC so far this year. It follows a July 1 escape involving an Elko teen who left the facility in the middle of the night and remains at large.
