Conservation Group Launching Ads Against Senate Hopeful Heck

LAS VEGAS (AP) — An environmental group that's running a door-to-door campaign supporting Catherine Cortez Masto is now buying TV ads in the Nevada Senate race.

The League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund announced that it was launching a $750,000 TV campaign on behalf of Cortez Masto, who's a Democrat.

The ads talk about how groups linked to the billionaire Koch Brothers are supporting her Republican opponent, Rep. Joe Heck. They also say Heck supports tax breaks for oil companies and has voted against bills that would have helped the solar economy.

The League is now spending more than $2 million in support of Cortez Masto, whose campaign manager is a former staffer with the group.

Heck's campaign points to his work on renewable energy legislation, and characterizes the League as a partisan special interest.
