Bakhtary Files To Have Contempt Charges Dismissed

Clark County Public Defender Zohra Bakhtary, who was handcuffed and found in contempt of court earlier this year for annoying a judge, has filed to have her charges thrown out.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Bakhtary's attorneys said in court documents yesterday Justice of the Peace Conrad Hafen abused his powers as a judge after finding the public defender in contempt.

Bakhtary argued a client she was representing should not be sent to jail back in May.

Justice Hafen asked her to be quiet, and when she objected, he had her held in contempt of court.
