A state economist says Nevada has regained nearly all of the 175,000 jobs lost during the Great Recession.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that state Employment, Training and Rehabilitation Department Chief Economist Bill Anderson told the Economic Forum on Thursday that Nevada added 140,000 jobs from 2010 to 2015. Another 30,000 jobs have been added in the first four months of this year as well.
Anderson says by the end of 2017 Nevada is expected to exceed its pre-recessionary employment high by almost 100,000 jobs.
He says all employment sectors except mining are showing job gains including construction, which lost nearly 100,000 jobs during the recession.
The Economic Forum is a panel of five experts charged with setting revenue estimates that the Legislature must use to adopt a balanced budget.
