The Elko County School Board is down to six members – and the board has voted to keep it that way until the new year.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports the board discussed whether or not to fill a seat vacated by Cindy Elquist, who resigned – incidentally enough – to become a teacher.
The remaining members of the board voted unanimously, with one member absent, not to fill the seat.

The district superintendent said nobody had volunteered to fill the seat temporarily, and no members of the public were clamoring for the seat to be filled.
There will be an election in the fall to fill the seat, with one of two declared candidates set to take their position on the board come January.
