Nye County Sheriff's Dept. Says It Needs More Money

The Nye County Sheriff's Department says it is in need of money for new equipment.

The Pahrump Valley Times reports the sheriff is asking for around $2 million to replace a variety of equipment, and to acquire or build new facilities.

Among the needs are a firing range for officer training, space to store records and around $1 million dollars to replace vehicles the department uses.

Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly told the Nye County Commission many vehicles the department uses have more than 180,000 miles on them and need to be replaced.

She also said the department needs new Tasers, as their current ones are "outdated."
