Error At Nevada DMV Gives $19 Million To Incorrect Agencies

Officials say the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles erroneously gave school districts and local governments $19.1 million that was supposed to be paid to the state.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the glitch with registration fees spans three years.  Governor Sandoval’s office says a computer programmer found the issue a month ago.

The $19.1 million was supposed to go to the state's general operating fund rather than local entities - they already receive a share of vehicle registration fees, but they won’t have to pay back what they were incorrectly given.
