Wild Horse Advocates Plan Rallies

Wild horse advocates are rallying in Las Vegas against the hundreds of millions of dollars the U.S. government spends to round up mustangs and burros on federal land in Nevada.

Leaders of Saving Wild Horses Nevada are organizing the protests beginning at 10 a.m. Friday in front of the downtown federal building.

They also plan to gather in front of the Bellagio fountains at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and march down Las Vegas Boulevard.

The advocates say they plan to hand out informational booklets explaining how taxpayers are footing the bill for the Bureau of Land Management's misguided policy.

They say the roundups benefit ranching and mining interests, at the expense of the native horses and the taxpayers who end up footing the bill.
