The US Forest Service will begin work on rehabilitating a couple of trails on Mt. Charleston that were damaged and closed following 2013's Carpenter 1 fire.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports crews from the forest service plan to start work this summer on the South Loop and Griffith Summit trails.
The work will be done largely by hand, since the trails are in protected wilderness areas where machines cannot be used.

That includes the use of chainsaws, so teams will have to saw fallen trees by hand to remove them from the trailheads.
Still, not every trail closed because of the fire will receive treatment this summer.
Griffith Peak Trail remains closed, and there's no word yet on when it will reopen.
