Nevada High Court Hears Las Vegas Sands Judge-Bias Arguments

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Famed attorney Alan Dershowitz told the Nevada Supreme Court that judges shouldn't talk about cases, and a judge handling a lawsuit involving casino mogul Sheldon Adelson should be forced to step aside for doing so.

A lawyer for a fired former Macau casino executive countered Tuesday that the Harvard University professor's argument amounts to another stall tactic in the long-running civil lawsuit involving Adelson and his company, Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Todd Bice represents former Sands China chief executive Steven Jacobs.

He told justices they should uphold an administrative judge's ruling that there's no reason to remove Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez after more than five years handling the Sands-Jacobs case.

Bice accuses Adelson of trying to scuttle a case that Adelson doesn't want a jury to hear.
