Former LVVWD Purchasing Agent Investigated For Unauthorized Purchases

At least one former Las Vegas water district official is no longer on the payroll, and federal authorities are investigating allegations that a purchasing agent made $4 million worth of unauthorized purchases that were shipped to a New Jersey address.

Las Vegas Valley Water District General Manager John Entsminger sent a message to employees Thursday saying the FBI was called in after an internal investigation began in December.

An FBI spokeswoman declined Friday to comment.

KLAS-TV reports that a longtime purchasing agent resigned after the probe began, but hasn't been charged with a crime.

The station says purchases went on for several years, and records show more than $1.2 million worth of printer cartridges and ink were purchased in 2014 alone.

It says officials suspect items were re-sold.
