BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — Boulder City's former police chief — who declined to seek charges against an animal control supervisor accused of improperly euthanizing more than 100 shelter animals — has pleaded guilty to failure to perform a duty.
Bill Conger pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge Tuesday and paid a $1,000 fine.
Conger had resigned as police chief in January after facing criticism for dropping an animal cruelty case against former Boulder City animal control chief Mary Jo Frazier.
Frazier has pleaded not guilty to two felony animal cruelty charges. Her trial is set for September.
Conger did not speak in court Tuesday, but his attorney called the situation "an unfortunate set of circumstances" and says Conger wants to get it behind him.
