Valley Electric Association plans to raise the cost of electricity for customers in Nye County.
The Pahrump Valley Times reports rates will increase by a single-digit percentage point by July 1.
Officials with the utility say the rate increase was set to go into effect early in 2017, but it has been moved up due to costs affiliated with a broadband internet service the company is rolling out.

The utility is not sure just yet by how much rates will increase, as a third-party is determining that figure.
But Valley Electric says rates will not increase by more than 9.99% and will be distributed across rate classes.
