MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) — A federal magistrate has ordered an Oklahoma man to face charges in Nevada for a 2014 armed standoff over grazing cattle on government land.
U.S. Magistrate Kimberly E. West handed down the order Monday following a detention hearing for 52-year-old Richard R. Lovelien of Westville, Oklahoma. Online court records indicate West ordered federal marshals to transport Lovelien to Nevada.
A federal grand jury is investigating the standoff near renegade cattleman Cliven Bundy's ranch in southern Nevada. Nineteen defendants face conspiracy, assault and threats charges. They're accused of leading an armed confrontation that forced U.S. Bureau of Land Management agents to abandon an effort to remove Bundy cattle from federal lands where he was accused of letting them graze for decades without paying federal fees.
