UNLV Basketball: As New Coach Arrives, A Player Departs

As UNLV announced a new head coach to lead its men's basketball program, one of its prized players decided to leave.

The University of Arkansas-Little Rock announced Monday its men's basketball coach Chris Beard was resigning and had a deal in principle to become the new head coach at UNLV.

UNLV made a similar announcement later in the afternoon.

Beard led the University of Arkansas-Little Rock to a 30-5 record this year and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman product and UNLV forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. announced Monday he was forgoing the rest of his college eligibility to enter the NBA Draft.

Zimmerman is projected by some analysts to be a first-round pick in the draft.
