Taxable Room Revenues Up 17 Percent In Reno, Washoe County

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Taxable room revenues at Washoe County hotels are up 17 percent through the first eight months of the fiscal year, compared to a year ago.

The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority said Thursday revenues through February were $27.1 million dollars ahead of the previous year.

RSCVA Board Chairman Bob Lucy says it's the 20th consecutive month revenues have increased at hotels in Reno and Sparks and the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Interim Managing Director Jennifer Cunningham says the heavy snowpack at area ski resorts helped attract more visitors. She says the growing number of businesses relocating to Reno also have stimulated demand at area hotels.
