LAS VEGAS (AP) — The public health department in Las Vegas has made a move into its new main building.
Southern Nevada Health District spokeswoman Stephanie Bethel says the new office is at Decatur Boulevard and Meadows Lane in Las Vegas.
It replaces a temporary main office in a former telephone company office building on Valley View Boulevard. That site opened after the district's 50-year-old headquarters and main clinic on Shadow Lane was shuttered in April 2012 due to concerns that it was structurally unsound.
Dr. Joe Iser, district chief health officer, says the new 110,000 square-foot facility allows for the consolidation of services, is centrally located, and is more easily accessible.
The new building was purchased in December 2014 for $6.5 million.
