A Republican in one of Nevada's most competitive state Senate races says her primary opponent's campaign flyers mislead people about the Legislature's controversial tax package.
Republican Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman is calling on her Republican rival, Erv Nelson, to stop distributing what she calls an "insanely false" pamphlet.
Nelson says he stands by the flyer, which says he voted last year in the Assembly to cut taxes on 95 percent of small businesses. He says that represents his vote to permanently implement a payroll tax exemption for small businesses that would've otherwise expired.
Seaman says the flyer ignores that the same bill added a new "commerce tax" on large businesses and increased the payroll tax rate. Seaman voted against it.
Nelson and Seaman are seeking a soon-to-be-vacant Las Vegas Senate seat.
