LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police are asking for a ban on bulky bags and strollers during major events on the Strip for public safety reasons.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that police had asked visitors ahead of the Las Vegas Strip's New Year's Eve bash to leave the items at home after several people died in terror attacks in Paris and a mass shooting in San Bernardino. But police had no way of enforcing the ban at the time.
Police director of intergovernmental services Chuck Callaway called on Clark County commissioners Tuesday to adopt an ordinance prohibiting strollers and bags larger than 8 inches by 6 inches. Calloway says they have been used to conceal dangerous items.
Commissioners have shown support for the proposal and will consider it a future meeting.
