Henderson Officials Say City Police Can Investigate Judge's Death

Henderson officials say there's no reason the city's police department cannot lead the investigation into the unexpected death of a municipal court judge.

City Manager Bob Murnane tells the Las Vegas Review Journal that Henderson police can be objective in the death of Judge Diana Hampton.

The 50-year-old judge was once married to a city police officer. They had two children and divorced in 2014.

Officers found Hampton dead in her bathroom when they arrived March 13 to do a welfare check.

The Clark County coroner's office found no signs of foul play or a cause of death.

Friends described Hampton as someone passionate about fitness.

The city's first elected female judge, she was also recently named chief municipal judge.
