Census Data Show SW Utah Continues To Grow

U.S. Census estimates show southwest Utah is still growing at a rate faster than the average county.

The St. George Spectrum reports Washington County grew by roughly 2.5 percent from July 2014 to the same time last year.

The U-S Census Bureau projects Washington County has grown by about 17,000 people since 2010.

That's not the only county in that area experiencing growth.

Iron County grew by about 2.4 percent from July 2014 to last summer as well.

However, the growth in the region is not enough to keep Washington County in the top tier of fastest growing metropolitan areas … growth peaked before the Great Recession, and has remained steady after a slight tapering off.
