CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada is offering more than a half a million dollars in grants to prepare the state's workers for high-paying science and technology jobs.
The Governor's Office of Science, Innovation and Technology announced $626,000 in STEM Workforce Challenge Grants earlier this month.
Six entities received awards, including the College of Southern Nevada, which is getting about $150,000 to create a new associate's degree in cyber security.

The program is being developed in partnership with data center giant Switch and will cover subjects including ethical hacking.
Western Nevada College is getting $142,000 to update its welding programs and buy a robotic welding machine.
