BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Lake Mead National Recreation Area is now the fifth most-visited site in the National Park Service system.
The park service's latest numbers for 2015 showed a total of 7.2 million visitors came to Lake Mead in 2015, which amounts to 368,000 more people compared to the previous year.
This 5 percent increase in attendance lifted Lake Mead to fifth most-visited site, up one spot from 2014.
The national park system also saw a 4.9 percent increase in visitors overall last year.
Ahead of Lake Mead on the list of the top five sites are, in order, the Lincoln Memorial, Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Blue Ridge Parkway, which reported 15 million visitors.
Grand Canyon National Park was in 10th place with 5.5 million visitors.
