Culinary Union Backs Kihuen In CD-4

Nevada's largest labor union announced it's endorsing Democratic Nevada state Sen. Ruben Kihuen in the crowded race for Rep. Cresent Hardy's congressional seat.

The Culinary Union said Thursday that an overwhelming majority of the 57,000 Las Vegas casino workers it represents voted to endorse Kihuen for the 4th Congressional District, calling him an ally for workers' rights.

Kihuen is in a competitive four-way Democratic primary to take freshman Republican Hardy's seat.

Kihuen's opponents include Lucy Flores, John Oceguera and Susie Lee.

Lee and Hardy so far have raised more money than Kihuen.

Kihuen has won several high-profile endorsements, including from Democratic Sen. Harry Reid and the SEIU Local 1107 labor group.

Nevada's 4th Congressional District leans Democratic, and the seat is considered ripe for a Democratic takeover in 2016.
