Wildlife officials say they have issued several warnings to Carson City residents caught feeding deer this winter, and they are urging them to stop.
The Nevada Appeal reports that Carson City Game Warden Jake Kreamer says feeding deer can create problems for the city. He says the large presence of deer draws predators, particularly mountain lions, into neighborhoods, and increases the number of collisions on city roads.
People who intentionally feed deer are issued a warning on the first offense. They face a $250 fine for a second offense and up to $500 for a third.

Kreamer says residents have voiced concerns that the deer may be starving. But he says people shouldn't worry because "the deer are doing fine without their help."
