Switch Now Uses Renewable Energy Exclusively

Las Vegas data company Switch has begun drawing exclusively from renewable energy to power its facilities.

Vegas Inc. reports that the company announced Tuesday that it had switched over to the complete use of renewable energy at the start of this year.

Switch has entered into an agreement with NV Energy to use the utility's existing renewable sources, which include geothermal, wind and solar, while construction gets underway on two solar projects expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The move comes after Switch announced last year its decision to power its data centers with renewable energy. The company provides services to corporations including DreamWorks, eBay and Google as well as Las Vegas-based companies, MGM Resorts and Zappos.
