Solar Farm To Be Built In Laughlin

Laughlin is getting a solar farm.

The Mohave Daily News reports a 310 megawatt plant will be built on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation, and will be built by First Solar, Inc. in partnership with Tribal Solar LLC.

The plant will be west of the Colorado River, south of the Nevada/California border, and is expected to be completed by 2019.

Southern California Edison has already agreed to purchase power for a 20 year period from the plant once it is operational.

Back in August 2014, First Solar announced plans to build a plant in Laughlin, but the land the company wanted sold for a higher price to a different solar firm.
