Longtime Owner Ready To Sell Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe Resort

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The owners of Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe are looking to sell.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the resort's majority owner, Fritz Buser, plans to put the property on the market.

The resort announced the plans in a statement Saturday.

Officials say Buser feels it is the right time to sell, especially with the last season being successful despite a lean snow turnout.

The 95-year-old Buser has been an owner since 1971.

Resort spokesman Mike Pierce says staff was informed last week of the decision.

Mt. Rose is a mix of private property and land leased from the U.S. Forest Service.

It includes 1,200 "skiable acres."

Buser was promoting ski boots in the 1960s when he met the founders of Mt. Rose and invested in the resort.
