Dignity Health To Build Smaller Hospitals

Dignity Health has announced plans to build smaller hospitals in neighborhoods throughout southern Nevada.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the hospitals are meant to move patients who are not facing a critical medical issue away from larger hospitals.

The new hospitals will have emergency care facilities and primary care offices, but will have far fewer inpatient beds.

They're also planned to be built in areas otherwise underserved by medical care.

As of now, the hospitals are planned to be built at Craig Road and MLK, the 215 and Flamingo, at Sahara and Decatur, and at Blue Diamond and Decatur.

All facilities are set to open by summer of 2017.
