Collins Pleads No Contest To DUI

A former Las Vegas-area elected official has pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge and says he will still run for mayor.

KSNV reports that former Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins was in court Tuesday.

He was ordered to a 30-day suspended sentence and to attend a DUI diversion class.

Collins was arrested Dec. 11 after a crash while leaving the National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The prosecutor alleged that Collins’ blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

The politician from North Las Vegas also told the station that he still will run for mayor, as he had announced after resigning from the county commission in August.
